Many like to consider Joebaggio228 to be the first ever internet troll, as he was suspended for shit talking on a Usenet forum back in December 1989. This isn’t however true, web pioneer Walter Williams have confessed to trolling so far back as the early 80s. No evidence of this claim has been validated though, but it’s most likely true. In 1992, a group by the name of MegaValtz, created a chat on a discussion talk forum, just to talk rubbish. Strange enough, the chat was limited by an hour for “disturbing the internet“(yes thats really the explanation). Back then, discussion rooms were highly controversial, as it was new to the world. The first troll to ever be verified on the nets is probably Liam Bryant, a high school student from Oklahoma, who got exposed as a fraud by accident in 1994. (That’s if you exclude the computer hackers of the 1980s). Another smug, Jouglas Juggaloo, a troll from the UK, was active during the early 2000s and was finally exposed in 2002. He committed suicide by gunshot wound to the (head) while spamming the internet with porn. later AWELUMCH, an Irish, took JJs place as INTERNET TROLL KING. Awelumch quit in 2004: reason? Unknown“. it Took a long time until a challenger approached, not until 2008, when MySpace became popular amongst teens and emos. The fact was, and STILL IS, an emo from Russia, had taken Awelumchs place as IK.
